Childhood and artistic beginnings
Juan Luis Londoño Arias was born on January 28, 1994 in the Colombian city of Medellín.12 13 Son of Marlli Arias and Luis Londoño; has an older sister named Manuela, 14 who studied psychology and philosophy.15 In his early childhood, he was a football fan, a sport he practiced for eight straight years.16 He occupied the lower divisions in the National Athletic and Equity Club Deportivo.12 17 He also participated in volleyball, pingpong, chess, among others.14 On the other hand, he also had a passion for music, which he showed both at home and at school and his best friend Camila Andriuolo who after a time was his girlfriend for years.14 He studied at Hontanares College in El Retiro, and used to write letters to the brides of his classmates.15 In the tenth grade he participated in a singing contest and won first place in the competition with the song "Tengo ganas" by Andrés Cepeda, and in December of that year he starred in a play.14At the age of fifteen he composed a song entitled "I do not want" and a year later Juan Parra, his uncle, offered him as a birthday present to record the song in a studio.14 Initially, he had no intentions of focusing on music; "However, he surprised a group of producers who ended up offering to record a record, but not before warning him that he needed a more sonorous, easy to remember and well received name in the circle of urban genre." 14 He adopted the name Maluma, which is a combination of the first two letters of the name of his mother Marlli, his father Luis and his sister Manuela.18 According to the same artist: "It is a tribute to them because I love them and they are the engine Of my career.
